Guide to Voting

Learn how to delegate UNI on Agora or Tally and vote on Uniswap governance proposals.

To participate in a governance vote, you will need:

  • UNI tokens
  • ETH for transaction costs
  • An Ethereum-compatible wallet

Understanding Delegation

UNI tokens have voting power in Uniswap Governance, but they must be delegated before you can use them to vote. Delegation binds your tokens' voting power to a specific address, either your own or someone else's who you trust to vote on your behalf.

Important: You must delegate your tokens before a vote becomes active. Think of it like voter registration - it needs to happen in advance for your vote to count.

How to Delegate Your UNI on Agora

Option 1: self-delegate (vote yourself)

  1. Go to Agora's Uniswap voting dashboard.
  2. Connect your wallet via the button at the top right.
  3. Click your wallet address at the top and select make delegate profile or view my profile if you have previously registered.
  4. On your profile, click the Delegate button at bottom left.
  5. Confirm you are delegating your address in the popup.
  6. Approve and sign the transaction in your wallet.
  7. Wait for the transaction to process.

Once confirmed, the popup closes and your voting power appears on your profile.

Option 2: delegate to someone else

  1. Go to Agora's Uniswap voting dashboard.
  2. Connect your wallet.
  3. Browse the list of delegates under the voters tab.
  4. Select a delegate and view their profile.
  5. Click Delegate on your chosen delegate at bottom left.
  6. Approve and sign the transaction in your wallet.
  7. Wait for the transaction to process.

Once confirmed, the popup closes and their new voting power appears on their profile.

How to Delegate Your UNI on Tally

  1. Open Tally's Uniswap dashboard.
  2. Connect your wallet.
  3. Click your wallet address at the top and select My Voting Power.
  4. You should now see your UNI balance with the option to click Delegate.
  5. A popup prompts you to select between delegating to yourself and someone else. To yourself: select Myself. To someone else: select Someone else and paste their address.
  6. Approve and sign the transaction in your wallet.
  7. Wait for the transaction to process.

Important Notes

  • Delegation costs gas since it is recorded onchain, make sure you have ETH to cover this.
  • You can update your delegation at any time by repeating the process outlined above.
  • Delegation must happen before voting begins on any proposal you want to participate in.
  • Your tokens remain in your wallet - delegation only assigns voting power, you still own and control your UNI at all times.

Voting

If you have self delegated and there is an active proposal, you are ready to vote in Uniswap Governance.

To cast your vote, navigate to the proposals page on either Agora or Tally and click an active proposal.

After reviewing the attached details and deciding your opinion, choose Vote For or Vote Against.

Once you choose, a window pops up allowing you to execute the vote. When you click to cast your vote, your wallet pops up asking you to confirm your transaction.

Click submit or confirm and check that the transaction has been confirmed. You can view your votes from your profile, or on the proposal itself.
